Watching the original Tron the other day in glorious Blu-Ray, I realized how much of the film’s jargon, quotes and references I had incorporated into my own personal vocabulary at the time.
Perhaps it’s not necessary to point out how ahead of everything Tron was; but, from our perspective now it’s easy to see that it was one of those pop artifacts where we could watch, if we were paying attention, the future cultural zeitgeist being formed. (As much as Blade Runner, perhaps, although it doesn’t get as much credit.) I suppose that’s why parts of it seem hokey now and parts of it seem contemporary and parts of it both.
Plus, Bit was cute and RAM was hot.
