Chucho E. Quintero once told me that Canción no amorosa was his favorite short film of all time? until he saw David. (David is my favorite short film, as well.)
I’ll let Chucho tell you all about what he thinks of today’s free gay movie on Vimeo. (If you don’t follow Chucho on Letterboxd, you should. He’s always enthusiastic and informed and he writes better and more lively prose than 80% of the native English speakers on that frequently tiring and predictable platform.)
I don’t like Canción no amorosa as much as Chucho does, but it is one of the better and more sensitively directed narratives that depict the friendship between a gay man and a straight man.
