The plot of this goofy, sweet, young-gay romance from Brazil is identical to Mi mejor amigo from Argentina: the sudden visit of a bad boy upends the life of a good boy and opens up his eyes, among other things.
The latter as filmmaking is in a whole other league but Primos made me smile more often and was ultimately more satisfying. It was also a good treatment for the mind-rape I endured watching Joker last night.
People probably hate this movie because it’s hopeful and sincere as opposed to cynical and sarcastic which is all the rage, STILL, sad to say, among the elites in [cinema] culture worldwide.
The icing: No-nonsense nudity, a good sex scene, and a hilarious moment in which a jealous young girl observes the kissing cousins… and ultimately wants to join in.
Lighten up.
Somehow deja vu and mainstream, but nice to see and conforting
